too bad not to write about…
Saturday, January 12th, 2008Ok, take: Lord of the Rings, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, He-man (Grayskull anyone?), Xenia Warrior Princess, Zelda, Star Wars (Jedi), Jerry Springer, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, The Matrix, 300, Harry Potter, Blade, throw in Matthew “Cereal Killer” Lillard, Australian Vin Diesel/Jack Bauer Jason Statham Burt Reynolds!!!?, and director Uwe Boll….. and you get the greatest worst movie of all time.
We’re talking so bad/good, this movie is to the medieval fantasy genre as Planet 9 from Outer Space is to the sci-fi genre.
There’s a reason that this film has been out not even 24 hours and is already at the screen with the smallest seating capacity at my local cinema.
I really just want to believe, that Uwe Boll intentionally makes his movies to be this bad, like an Andy Kaufman approach to film making, so serious its bad, but so bad its funny- like a silent approach to the pokes made to other genres in movies like Hot Fuzz and even Not Another Teen Movie. If so, he’s somewhat of an unappreciated genius, otherwise, I’ve lost all hope in humanity.
In the words of Brian Orndorf:
I would like to think that Uwe Boll is not a mentally-challenged individual.
Now, I guess I seem surprised at the outcome of this movie, but no one had previously made me aware of Mr. Boll’s reputation… yet, I could not have done a single thing better with my ten dollars on a Friday night… (more…)
